Strawberries system

-50% production cost per KG: the new level of greenhouse strawberry performance

The new era of strawberry yields and quality in greenhouses

The Aeroframe is a Next-Generation greenhouse strawberry production system that delivers up to 2x yield and 3x profit, with 30% lower upfront cost. The quality of strawberries is incomparable – we achieve 50% higher BRIX than is in breeder datasheets.

Up to 50% lower production cost

Higher productivity against the same climate costs reduces production cost per kg.

25-29 plants per m2 of greenhouse

Aeroframes can support from 25 up to 29 and more plants per m2 of floor space.

+250 tonnes per hectare per year

With sufficient climate control, you can produce 250 and up to 300 tones per hectare.

100% suitable in all greenhouses

Freya can integrate Aeroframes into new projects and existing greenhouses.

-30% CAPEX for new projects

You will need fewer hectares and less infrastructure to produce your target tonnage.

2x Yield and 3x Profit in retrofits

You can double revenues and triple profits per m2 in your existing greenhouses.

Aeroframe strawberry results
Find out how the Aeroframe performs in a Low-Tech greenhouse in Lithuania.
The Start - May 2025
Two Aeroframe systems were deployed to compare Sonsation strawberry variety performance against a similar greenhouse in Lithuania using peat systems.
The Parameters
One system (left) holds 25 plants/m2, another system holds 29 plants/m2.
Plug Adaptaton
Frigo (A+) plugs adapted very well. Less than 0.2% of plugs were removed due to lagging growth.
Roots & Fertigation
Frigo plants produced healthy amounts of new aeroponic roots by end of week 2. Nutrient strategy is the same as in peat systems. Irrigation intensity is adaptive and depends on climate and day time. Daytime sprays can be once every 7-12 minutes, nighttime sprays can be once every 20-40 minutes.
From Plug to Fruiting
Between planting and initial flowers, we had 5 weeks. Initial fruits formed in 7 weeks.
Plant Health
No plants developed diseases. We used natural Integrated Pest Management strategy.
Plant Support
Our initial plant support was not optimal and some branches were breaking due to weight. Since then, we have improved the plant support systems.
Uniformity
Top-to-bottom uniformity was nearly equal. Plants started bearing fruit, ripening and yielding in same performance criteria.
Yield results
Aeroframe strawberries yielded the same per plant compared to peat. However, higher density resulted in 2.2x higher yield compared to horizontal gutters per m2.

Aeroponic strawberries also delivered 12 BRIX, which is 50% higher than Sonsation datasheet. Keep scrolling fown for the full lab results.

how it works

HOW THE AEROFRAME WORKS

1. A-Frame structure

Triangular lightweight frames create 2x cultivation space per available floor area.

Frames can be installed:

  • free-standing frames
  • hanging frames with raise-lower functionality
  • retrofit on Ebb & Flow tables
  • on other existing or new infrastructure
  • more options available.

2. Plant boards

Lightweight food-safe polyester boards hold plants. Re-usable substrate is provided.

Boards are produced based on required density and plant type, including strawberries, lettuces, herbs, microgreens and any other required variety.

3. Mobile irrigation

Cutting-edge aeroponic irrigators travel inside the root zone and deliver nutrient solution in 30-70µm droplets.

Irrigation is precise and adaptive – sensors and artificial intelligence estimate transpiration by the minute.

No clogging guaranteed due to groundbreaking E-nozzle technology.

how it works

E-NOZZLE TECHNOLOGY

In the 1990s, NASA pioneered aeroponics research after discovering that mist-based cultivation could boost yields by up to 300% while using 98% less water and 60% fewer nutrients compared to soil. Despite the promise, the technology was abandoned as conventional high-pressure nozzles inevitably clogged, making it impractical beyond lab trials. Over the next decades, researchers worldwide tried to overcome this bottleneck, but no scalable solution emerged.

Freya has dedicated 10 years of research and 5 years of development to create uncloggable ultrasonic e-nozzles, unlocking the ability to deploy aeroponics reliably in greenhouses at commercial scale. Patents pending.

UNCLOGGABLE

Freya’s proprietary ultrasonic e-nozzle technology works without pressure. The e-nozzle atomization orifice is 4mm in diameter, which makes it completely uncloggable.

PROPRIETARY

From the titanium e-nozzle to the ultrasonic algorithms, each part of this uncloggable system is created, developed and produced by Freya’s team of engineers.

TRUE AEROPONICS

Freya’s e-nozzles deliver droplet diameters between 30µm and 70µm. Our approach maximizes root hair growth, which is not possible with any other method.

SPACE TECH

While NASA’s attempts to deploy aeroponics in space were curtailed by limitations of pressure nozzles, Freya supplies e-nozzles to a confidential space agency for use in Orbit.

FreyaOS - Digital Agronomist

Growers do not have to study aeroponics to get the full benefits of the Aeroframe. FreyaOS is the brain of the Aeroframe system — a fully autonomous operating system that transforms how you grow strawberries at any scale.

Select “AUTO” mode, and the Aeroframe will deliver the highest yields with uncompromising quality.

FreyaOS Features:

  • Autonomous Irrigation: select the “AUTO” mode and the system will optimize irrigation by the minute
  • Dynamic Fertilizer Recipes: FreyaOS knows what nutrients are needed and adjusts the recipe
  • Disease Recognition: FreyaOS detects diseases and informs you if any treatments are required
  • Live Root Observation: Live view of the root zone is available 24/7/365
